our mission
boho social collective’s mission is to help small businesses build insight and confidence in what defines their brand and how to effectively portray that to their audience through organic social media marketing.
we aim to do this by providing affordable services and products along with sharing free content on our social media platforms and newsletter.
based in ankeny, iowa, makayla is a graduate of missouri valley college with a degree in business marketing. she married her high school sweetheart, aidan, last may and they have two fur babies - their cat, rosie and golden retriever, saylor. as a family, they love going on walks during golden hour!
makayla began her career in social media marketing at the start of the pandemic in january 2020 where she specialized in influencer marketing with different companies on her own large platforms like instagram, facebook, and tiktok.
three years later, after meeting many small business owners while planning her wedding, makayla realized just how many incredibly talented local entrepreneurs go widely unnoticed due to lack of strategic social media presence.
that lit an intense fiery passion in makayla to shift her focus to working directly with small businesses in the community, helping them scale and enhance their online marketing. this is when boho social collective was born.

makenna is a social media manager + specialist from ankeny, iowa. she married her husband, ben, in puerto vallarta, mexico in 2021 and they have since grown their family by eight paws - a golden retriever, waylon and german shepherd puppy, hank. they are big country fans, if you can’t tell!
when she’s not busy helping people master their marketing, you can find makenna playing with her dogs or binging greys anatomy (for the third time). she also loves travel - her go to’s are lake okaboji and their cabin in the black hills!
pursuing a career in marketing was always what makenna knew she wanted to do because she was drawn to the creativity behind social media. while completing her degree in marketing + public relations, makenna managed the social media accounts and behind the scenes operations at a company she worked for.
it was through her experience there that she discovered her true love for this industry. when makenna found boho social collective, everything came together in a way where she could pursue her passion while working with as many small businesses as possible, helping them transform their social media presence.
